1 Kings 18:36–46

TEXT:  1 Kings 18:36–46

INTRO:  We returned to God, recognized what was broken, rebuilt the altar, restored what belonged there, and learned to trust God while we waited. Now the altar is ready, the sacrifice has been made, and Elijah prays for God to answer—not simply to prove His power, but so the people would know that He is God and that He is “turning their hearts back again.” Then the fire falls. It consumes the sacrifice, the wood, the stones, the soil, and even the water. Nothing is left untouched. This is renewal: allowing the consuming fire of God to deal completely with what we have placed before Him, turning our hearts fully toward Him, leaving the past behind, and preparing us for the new life He wants to bring.
