Matthew 20:1-16

TEXT:  Matthew 20:1-16

INTRO:  Over the past several weeks, Jesus’ Kingdom Parables have shown us that the Kingdom of God begins small, grows steadily, exists alongside evil in a broken world, is worth surrendering everything to possess, and calls us to faithful stewardship while we await the King's return. Yet in our parable today, He confronts one final obstacle that keeps many people from fully embracing Kingdom life: our tendency to keep score. We naturally think in terms of fairness, comparison, and earning, but the Kingdom operates on a different economy. In God's Kingdom, grace outruns merit, generosity triumphs over entitlement, and faithfulness matters more than status. The parable of the vineyard workers confronts our assumptions about reward and reminds us that the Kingdom has always been, and will always be, about the goodness of the King. The greatest reward is not getting what we deserve, but receiving what only grace can give.
