TEXT: 1 Timothy 2:1–4; Matthew 5:14–16
INTRO: As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, we have much to be thankful for. We thank God for the freedoms, opportunities, and blessings we have enjoyed, while remembering that our ultimate hope is not found in any earthly nation, but in the eternal Kingdom of God. Scripture calls us to be faithful citizens by praying for those in authority and living as salt and light in the world. As followers of Christ, our greatest contribution to our nation is not found in politics or patriotism alone, but in faithfully reflecting the heart and character of Jesus wherever He has placed us.
