Rock Hill, SC – Cynthia Copeland Hartline, a beloved educator, devoted wife, and cherished mother, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in her hometown of Rock Hill, South Carolina. She was born on November 27, 1958, to Dewey and Ethel Copeland, and later welcomed her step-father, J.T. Melton, into her life. Cynthia’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry and John Copeland, who held a special place in her heart. They were a source of strength and joy throughout her life, and their memories will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved them.

She is survived by her devoted husband, John Hartline, and their son, David (D.J.) Hartline. Cynthia also leaves behind her step-sister, Karen Mead, along with a multitude of friends and family who will deeply miss her warm spirit and unwavering grace.

For 38 years, Cynthia made an indelible impact on the lives of countless children as a beloved teacher at Rock Hill Christian Academy of First Assembly of God. Her passion for education extended to her work at Carolina Kids, and at Oakdale Baptist, where she nurtured young minds and inspired a love for learning. Her students knew her not just as a teacher, but as a mentor and friend who brought joy to the classroom.

Outside of her teaching career, Cynthia embraced her many hobbies and interests. She had a passion for coloring and a lifelong love for all things Disney, which brought her immense joy. Her vibrant spirit shone through in her love for singing and directing church musicals, where she shared her talents and encouraged others to express their creativity. Cynthia’s love for her beagle, Lady, was evident, as the two shared countless adventures together, illustrating her deep affection for all living things.

Cynthia was not just a pillar of her family; she was a beacon of light in her community. She dedicated her life to serving others and instilling joy and compassion into the hearts of those around her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to resonate with all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 20, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Greene Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, located at 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. A funeral service will take place on June 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First Assembly of God, 1089 Edwards Street, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery at 4290 Old York Rd, in Rock Hill.

Cynthia’s life was a testament to the power of God’s love, her love for the Lord, and her love for others. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those she touched. May she rest in peace.
