Text: Joshua 1:1-9
Intro: There are many misunderstandings surrounding the Christian life. We want to make the Christian life easier and the church more acceptable to the world. The truth is that there is nothing easy or acceptable about the Christian life. And the church that preaches the true Gospel of Jesus will never be acceptable to the world. (Eph. 6:12) In our own strength, we can-not defeat our enemies! (1Jn 4:4b), (Ro. 8:31), (1Cor. 15:57).
The book of Joshua is about transitions. After 40 years of wandering, Israel is about to possess the land God promised Abraham. (Gen. 12:7) Canaan Land is not Heaven. It is a picture of the victorious Christian… victory that is available to every child of God, and every church today! It is a picture of victory in the midst of struggle.
